Music isn't
broken.
Distribution is.

In 1985 there were 22 ways for a song to find its audience: college radio, John Peel, club nights, the back of the NME, a friend's tape. In 2025 there are three: a recommendation engine, a TikTok sound, a paid ad. We think this is a tragedy and we are running our company as if it is one.

element/59 is for artists who are tired of optimising for the recommendation engine. We are not for sale to the recommendation engine. We will never accept advertising from the major label that signed the band that beat you to the playlist. That's the whole pitch.

◆ Three commitments · 2026 → 2031
01
No payola. Ever.

Editorial picks are paid, but only by us, only to humans, and the rates are public. No label can buy a chart position. No artist can buy a chart position. The only way up is plays.

02
AI is disclosed, not exiled.

Tag your tools at upload. The chart is for everyone — assisted, generated, derivative, human. Listeners filter. We do not pretend you didn't use Suno; we make it tasteful that you did.

03
You own the contract.

Distribution is a service we sell you for £8 a month, not a deal you sign for ten years. Walk away on a Tuesday. Take your masters, your charts, your followers, your URLs. We keep the friendship.

◆ THE POINT
We will sound less like SoundCloud, less like DistroKid, less like Spotify-for-artists. We will sound like a record label that happens to be open-access — because the founders ran a record label, and they miss it.
◆ Things we will not build
×A "for-you" feed that hides the chart
×An influence ladder that costs money to climb
×A model that sells your stems to a major
×Auto-generated tracks credited to ghost artists
×A "pro" tier that gates basic delivery
×A 360 deal disguised as a subscription
×Vanity metrics that don't move payouts
×A single dark pattern in the unsubscribe flow
◆ Receipts · this is how we know we mean it
